AREAS AFFECTED: San Jacinto; Polk; Montgomery; Northern Liberty; Inland Harris; Chambers; Southern Liberty; Coastal Harris
DESCRIPTION: At 141 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles north of Alabama-Coushatta Reservation to near Barrett. Movement was northeast at around 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Liberty, Cleveland, Dayton, Livingston, Barrett, Kingwood, Crosby, Mont Belvieu, Shepherd, Old River-Winfree, Ames, Daisetta, Hardin, Plum Grove, Kenefick, Cove, Devers, Goodrich, Seven Oaks, and Dayton Lakes.
INSTRUCTION: If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Graupel is a form of precipitation that is created by atmospheric conditions
which cause supercooled water droplets to contact snow crystals and freeze to
their surface.
Sometimes known as soft hail or snow pellets, graupel is delicate and easily
destroyed by touch. Whereas hail usually falls during severe weather, graupel
doesn't require such conditions to form, and can form in mild precipitation
similar to situations which produce snowfall.

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.
