AREAS AFFECTED: Lowlands of Western Whatcom County; Lowlands of Western Skagit and Northwestern Snohomish Counties; Downtown Everett / Marysville Area; Shoreline / Lynnwood / South Everett Area; Eastside; City of Seattle; Lowlands of Pierce and Southern King Counties; Olympia and Southern Puget Sound; Lowlands of Lewis and Southern Thurston Counties; Middle Chehalis River Valley; Willapa and Black Hills; Southern Hood Canal; Northern Hood Canal; Eastern Kitsap County; Foothills of the Western and Southern Olympic Peninsula
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Hot conditions with high temperatures ranging from the mid 80s to 90s expected and low temperatures mostly in the 60s. This will pose a moderate risk of heat-related illness. * WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Washington. * WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 5 AM PDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Heat will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses for those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.
INSTRUCTION: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Cirrostratus clouds are high, thin clouds that form above
20,000 feet and are made mostly of ice crystals. They sometimes look like giant
feathers, horse tails, or curls of hair in the sky.
These clouds are pushed by the jet stream and can move at high speeds reaching
100 mph.
What do they indicate?
They indicate that a precipitation is likely within 24 hours.

Condensation is the process which creates clouds, and therefore
it is a crucial process in the water cycle.
Condensation is the change of matter from a state of gas into a state of liquid,
and it happens because water molecules release heat into the atmosphere and
become organized into a more closely packed structure, what we might see as
water droplets.
Water is always present in the air around us as a vapor, but it's too small for
us to see. When water undergoes the process of condensation it becomes organized
into visible water droplets. You've probably seen condensation happen before on the
surface of a cold drink!
