DESCRIPTION: ...Warm, Dry and Windy Conditions Expected Tuesday... .Dry conditions will continue across the region over the next several days. Today, winds from the northwest will increase to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon, with gusts around 35 mph. The winds, combined with continued very dry conditions will allow for the rapid spread and growth of any fires. Wednesday, RH values are forecast to drop into the low to mid teens as westerly winds gust around 25 to 30 MPH. ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 001, 079, 080, 081, AND 252... * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 001 Cheyenne KS, 079 Dundy, 080 Hitchcock, 081 Red Willow and 252 Yuma. * TIMING...For the Red Flag Warning, until 7 PM MDT /8 PM CDT/ this evening. For the Fire Weather Watch, from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening. * WINDS...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 12 percent. * IMPACTS...Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop may rapidly grow and spread out of control.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
Hail storms can cause significant damage to crops, aircrafts, and man-made structures,
despite the fact that the duration is usually less than ten minutes.

A mammatus cloud is a cloud with a unique feature which resembles
a web of pouches hanging along the base of the cloud.
In the United States, mammatus clouds tend to form in the warmer months, commonly
in the Midwest and eastern regions.
While they usually form at the bottom of a cumulonimbis cloud, they can also form
under altostratus, altocumulus, stratocumulus, and cirrus clouds. Mammatus clouds
warn that severe weather is close.
